Welcome Back!

Welcome back folks. And happy new year! I hope you had a great holiday break and are ready to get back into the swing of things. Our second semester schedule starts this Wednesday, the 16th in the Mann Hall Gymnasium at 6pm. The schedule is as follows:

Wed and Thurs evenings from 6pm to 8pm
Saturday from 10am to 12:30pm.

If you have friends who would like to join the club, Thursday evening or Saturday would be the best time. I will do a newbie orientation during those times. Please encourage anyone interested to come at this time as opposed to the middle of the semester. I will also do another Gi order at the end of Jan.

Dues must be paid by the end of Jan. ($20 for students; $50 for non-students).

For the time being we will do a Gi class on Wednesdays, No-Gi on Thursdays and Saturday will be Open mat for Gi and No-gi as well as some Self-defense/MMA/Striking practice. (to participate in the MMA drills you should have at least one semester of BJJ training and a pair of padded MMA gloves).

If I have left anything out, I'll cover it during class. See you on the mat!

Hey folks, thanks again for all those who helped make our third annual tournament a success!

BJJ will continue on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until the 21st. I know it is exam time, but try and make some time to get those frustrations out on the mat. Some of you will be leaving after the 13th so have a safe and happy holiday.

No doubt we will have a smaller more intimate group for the next two weeks, nonetheless. The itinerary is as follows:

Tuesday - GI class
Thursday - No-GI class
Friday - Open Mat

Those of you not in the dorms, please email me if you are coming on the 14th-21st to work out so I don't end up there by myself (grappling with my own demons, etc..).

We are still having issues with space. We may have the same space over the break and spring semester, but we may have to move some chairs to set up and break down.

We are also looking at Mann Gym again for a Thur/Fri/Sun schedule or a Wed / Fri / Sat Schedule. Please go on the website and post your opinions on the Forum or Blog spot.

Those of you interested in an MMA style work out should ask Santa for a pair of Grappling or MMA gloves. The club will be buying focus mits/pads, but not gloves for folks. I will also place an order from Asian World of Martial Arts in January if people want to save on shipping.

Thanks and I'll see you on the Mat!

Don't forget the competition at Mann Hall on December 1st. All UVM BJJ participants should be present. If you are not competing, please volunteer to help out with various duties. We also need a team of folks to help set up on Friday night.
